One of McPherson's earlier works this powerful monologue tells of a Dublin thug's last job for his boss. The job went terribly wrong and resulted in murder and a chase across the country. The 'thief' appears not to be in control of his life but during the mayhem he performs an act that shows his humanity may still be intact. A sad tale of a life ill spent but we are charmed somehow by the hapless 'thief'.
